What's the role?
Changejar Technologies Private Limited (“Jar”) is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Associate – Legal & Compliance to support the company’s legal, regulatory, and governance functions. The ideal candidate will assist in drafting and reviewing legal documentation, ensuring adherence to applicable financial and regulatory requirements, and mitigating legal risks across business operations. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams and exposure to diverse legal matters.
What will be your responsibilities?
- Core Legal Support
- Provide end-to-end legal assistance to internal teams including Finance, Operations, Marketing, Product/Tech, and HR.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and legal documents (e.g., NDAs, Service Agreements etc.), while maintaining trackers and repositories.
- Experience or familiarity with: CLM platforms, Document execution tools (DocuSign) would be desirable.
- Conduct legal research and deliver clear, well-reasoned opinions on regulatory, contractual, and business matters.
- Compliance & Regulatory Responsibilities
- Monitoring ongoing regulatory updates from RBI, MCA, FIU, or other relevant bodies (especially if operating in fintech/payments).
- Assisting with regulatory audits, inspections, and compliance reporting.
- Managing periodic filings, license renewals, or compliance certifications.
- Support compliance activities, including policy development, SOP creation, internal risk mitigation processes, and regulatory documentation.
- Assist in managing licenses, filings, and engagement with regulatory bodies, as applicable.
- Secretarial and Dispute Support
- Assisting with board/committee documentation, resolutions, and statutory records.
- Coordinating with internal and external Company Secretaries.
- Managing notices, coordinating with external counsel, and preparing initial responses including maintaining relevant trackers.
- Soft Skills, Work Style and Cultural Expectations
- Ability to work in a team within a fast-paced startup/fintech environment.
- Strong ownership mindset and comfort with ambiguity and evolving regulations.
- Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- High integrity, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
- Ability to communicate legal concepts in simple, actionable terms to non-legal teams.
What’s required from you?
- Bachelor’s degree in law (BA. LLB) from a recognized institution.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience, preferably in fintech, startup or financial services.
